Conversely, if you don’t know the rules of a given game, you will most likely be lost and be unable to follow a game, much less participate in it.3 It is similar with interpreting the various genres of Scripture: in order to pick up the fine nuances conveyed by the biblical text, we must learn the “rules” that guide the interpretation of that particular biblical genre.
